interview from a bar stool with simon ibell

We met Simon Ibell at the Once Upon a Cure gala in September, and immediately we were enchanted. Inspiring would be an understatement when describing Simon. The founder of the iBellieve Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for MPS II (Hunter Syndrome) and over 50 related Lysosomal Storage Disorders, Simon has also launched Be Fair 2 Rare campaign – a global movement bringing awareness and advocacy to the rare disease community.

Let’s face it; people are fascinated with sex. Most people’s ears (and perhaps other body parts) will prick up at the slightest mention of the deed. Sex is the topic at most girls nights out and, if Cosmopolitan has taught us anything, men think about sex during 85%* of their days. (*Ballpark, based on personal experience)

We recently caught up with sex therapist, Teesha Morgan, who has teamed with K-Y Brand to answer sex and relationship questions and to help Canadian couples re-ignite their intimacy through the Intimacy Experiment. We thought we would ask her a few questions of our own that may also be on the minds of our readers.

interview from a bar stool with carmen townsend

Allow us to introduce to you our newest source of inspiration, Canadian songstress, Carmen Townsend. Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Carmen’s passion for music can be seen in the energy she brings to each performance. Her voice is right up there with female singers such as Alanis Morissette and Joan Jett. She’ll give you goosebumps.

This year Carmen released her album Waitin’ and Seein’, toured across Canada with Heart and most recently played sold out showcases at the East Coast Music Awards in April. Carmen has shared stages with acts including The Rheostatics, Matt Mays, Blue Rodeo, Wintersleep, Hey Rosetta!, Sloan, and Joel Plaskett.

If you already love her music, you’ll love her even more after reading this interview:

We are sort of obsessed. Okay, completely obsessed with the TV series The Vampire Diaries. Neck nibbling, a beautiful cast and sexual tension you can cut with a knife. What’s not to love?

It was while viewing TVD when we discovered our latest man crush, Stephen Amell, who played werewolf Brady. Coincidentally, he’s been cast for Season 3 of Hung coming this Fall on HBO, another of our favorite shows. Are you sensing a steamy theme in our TV preferences?

Stephen is a Canadian actor with talent (have you seen him in Justice for Natalee Holloway yet?) and a smile that makes us weak in the knees, plus he uses words such as “phalanx” on a regular basis – so naturally we had to learn more.

Marc is the first man who has challenged us… to a game of rock, paper, scissors that is. When we first came into contact with Marc, we found him extremely witty, and we were quick to jump at the chance to see Textuality, his debut into the Canadian Film industry.

We aren’t going to lie, we have stolen quite a few of the pick up lines from his movie, and will continue to do so until he provides us with some new material.

interview from a bar stool with meaghan kennedy

We had the pleasure of meeting Meaghan Kennedy years ago when she was working in Vancouver as a manager at clothing store L2. We would pass through the store on our way to lunch and look forward to having a gab session with her. In addition to her bright energy, her incredible nails and gorgeous hair are covetable to say the least, and we loved her instantly. You can imagine our thrill when we discovered that she now makes piñatas for a living through her company, Your Piñata. The unique and creative venture fits perfectly with her eclectic personality.
